天行一中寒假英國游學之旅——觀世界,看自己0評論0時間:2020-02-2218:08來源:壹點網作者:-點擊:次字號:小中大人最大的能力是學習力,而一所學校最大的財富是擁有一大批具備學習能力的人才老師,恰巧天行一中就擁有這樣的財富。一隊帶領著高一新生在倫敦學習,帶隊老師們也是邊行走邊思考;另一隊天行精英老師團隊在研學英國百年高中精髓。上月中旬,我們的28位高一學生在Christine、Kelvin、Eva老師的帶領下,赴英國倫敦進行了深入的考察與交流。今天我們將推出“天行人不斷學習系列一之游學帶隊老師篇”,這篇文章的作者便是此次研學的帶隊老師——李萍Christine。他們在倫敦這個城市里走著,看著,感受著,體驗著,參與著,有了超出預料的收獲。而倫敦也一路見證著天行學子們的A(Ambitious有野心)、B(Bold勇敢無畏)、C(Caring關愛他人)、D(Devoted全情投入)、E(Erudite博學多識)。帝國理工學院、劍橋大學是可以和美國藤校媲美的世界頂尖大學,G5名校在中國頗受歡迎。天行一中作為一所A-level課程的學校,英國的名校自然成為我們關注的重點。俗話說,百聞不如一見,英國這么多的名校,哪些適合我們天行一中的學生?這些名校有什麼樣的獨特魅力?今年寒假期間,天行一中的28名高一學生,在我和Kelvin、Eva老師的帶領下,赴英國倫敦進行了深入的考察與交流。ImperialcollegeLondonandtheuniversityofCambridgeareamongtheworldstopuniversitieswhichcanbecomparedfavourablywithivyleagueuniversitieslocatedintheUnitedStates.TheG5groupisparticularlypopularinChina,andtheeliteuniversitiesinBritainhavenaturallybecomethekeypointthatwepayattentionto.Asthesayinggoes,onepictureisworthathousandwords.ThereareavastnumberofprestigiousuniversitiesinBritain,Whichonesaresuitableforourstudents?Duringthewinterholidaythisyear,2810gradesstudentsfromTeensenInternationalSchoolwenttoLondonforin-depthinvestigationandcommunicationundertheleadershipofKelvinandEvaandme.▲三位帶隊老師倫敦,溫文爾雅又個性十足,內斂矜持又前衛張狂,我們在這個城市里走著,看著,感受著,體驗著,參與著,有了超出預料的收獲。而這個城市也一路見證著天行學子們的A(Ambitious有野心)、B(Bold勇敢無畏)、C(Caring關愛他人)、D(Devoted全情投入)、E(Erudite博學多識)。Wewerewalkinginthecity,London,acitythatisgentleandcultivatedandpersonalized,missishandadvant-garde,wewatching,feeling,experiencingandparticipating,andwehavesomeunexpectedharvest.Besidesthiscityhasalsoseenstudents’A(Ambitious),B(Bold),C(Caring),D(Devoted),E(Erudite)throughoutthewholejourney.▲老師同學們鏡頭下的倫敦看見你們TobeAmbitious(有野心)游學行程中名校之旅的第一站是帝國理工學院(ImperialCollegeLondon以下簡稱IC),IC電子電氣工程專業的博士后講師,也是帝國理工與清華智能電力與能源系統聯合研究中心的副主任滕飛教授,他為我們詳細介紹了帝國理工學院。據了解IC最受歡迎的學科是工程、醫學、自然科學以及商科,IC里65%的學生來自除英國以外的其他國家,其中,中國學生最多,2019年最新的數據是2600名。35%的教職工也來自世界其他國家。所以它是一所真正意義上的InternationalUniversity。ThefirststopofthetourisImperialCollegeLondon(ICiscalledforshort),apost-doctorallecturerinelectricalandelectronicengineeringofIC,anddeputydirectorofthejointresearchcenterforintelligentpowerandenergysystemsofImperialCollegeandTsinghuauniversitywhoiscalledFeiTenggaveusadetailedintroductionofIC.AccordingtotheunderstandweknewthatthemostpopularsubjectsofICareengineering,medicine,naturalsciencesandbusiness,with65%ofitsstudentscomingfromcountriesoutoftheUK,amongwhichthelargestproportionofthemcomefromChina,withthelatestfigureof2,600studentin2019.Thirty-fivepercentofthefacultyarefromotherpartsoftheworld.Therefore,itisanInternationalUniversityinthetruesense.▲帝國理工學院之旅Dr.TENG還重點講解了IC可以通過UCAS系統申請,每年的1月15日是申請截止日期,IC不接受直接申請或者是交換留學要求。在入學成績上,IC要求除了扎實的專業課成績外,還要求數學至少A*,物理A,還有一個第三門學科A,個人文書和專業的推薦信也非常關鍵。Dr.TENGalsoemphasizedthatICcanbeappliedthroughtheUCASsystem.ThedeadlineforapplicationisJanuary15theveryyear.ICdoesnotacceptdirectapplicationsorexchangerequirements.Inadditiontomarvellousacademicperformance,ICrequiresatleastA*inmathematicsandAinphysics,aswellasAinthethirdsubject.Personaldocumentsandprofessionallettersofrecommendationarealsoparticularlycrucial.▲同學們在帝國理工學院聆聽Dr.TENG教授帶來的招生見面會名校之旅第二站是劍橋大學,講座是由劍橋大學土地經濟學教授ThiesLindenthal教授的講授,Thies教授是土生土長的德國人,他本科階段學習的是計算機科學,中途輟學去創辦了自己的軟件公司。與此同時,繼續在荷蘭攻讀商務管理專業。最后,一路過關斬將來到了劍橋大學攻讀土地經濟學專業的博士學位。他表示,想要進入劍橋大學,首先必須要在年級中名列前茅并且在自己想要學習的學科領域表現卓越。此外雅思要求7.5分,小分不低于7分。申請劍橋大學,除了要在UCAS上遞交申請之外,還需要再通過劍橋大學自家的申請系統CambridgeOnlinePreliminaryApplication(COPA)。傲嬌的劍橋大學面試更有意思,面試官有時候會問一些很奇葩的問題比如“Howwouldyoupoisonsomeonewithoutthepolicefindingout如何給一個人下毒,且不會被警察發現?”還有“WhatwouldyoudoifIwereamagpie如果我是一只喜鵲,你會做什麼?”ThesecondstoponthetourwasCambridgeuniversity,wherethelecturewasgivenbyThiesLindenthal,professoroflandeconomics.Thies,anativeGerman,studiedcomputerscienceasanundergraduatebeforedroppingouttostarthisownsoftwarecompany.Meanwhile,hecontinuedtostudybusinessmanagementintheNetherlands.Finally,heovercameallthedifficultiesinthewaytotheuniversityofCambridgetostudyforadoctorateinlandeconomics.Hesays,togetintoCambridge,youmustfirstbethebestamongallcandidatesandbecomeremarkableinthesubjectthatyouwanttostudy.Inaddition,IELTSrequiresascoreof7.5,withaminimumscoreof7ateachpart.ToapplyfortheuniversityofCambridge,inadditiontosubmittingtheApplicationonUCAS,theuniversityofCambridgesownApplicationsystem,theCambridgeOnlinePreliminaryApplication(COPA),isalsorequired.TsundereCambridgeuniversityinterviewisevenmuchmoreinteresting,withinterviewerssometimesaskingbizarrequestionsforinstanceHowwouldyoupoisonsomeonewithoutthepolicefindingout?AndWhatwouldyoudoifIwereamagpie?▲同學們在劍橋大學聆聽ThiesLindenthal教授的招生講座無論是帝國理工還是劍橋,毫無疑問,入學選拔都非常嚴苛,但名校的魅力和極具個性化的學術氛圍之強烈在兩場招生官見面中已表露無遺。來英之前,很多同學一直以為牛津劍橋是個純粹的天才待的地方,自己無法和他們相比。現在看來,能來這里的人只是有夢想并勇敢的去為之努力奮斗了。我們又何嘗不可呢?或許牛津劍橋并不遙遠,遙遠是因為我們內心的種種阻礙。只要堅定不移,努力走下去,那么一定會通向燦爛美好的前方!NomatterImperialCollegeorCambridge,thereisnodoubtthattheselectionprocessisveryrigorous,butthecharmandhighlypersonalizedacademicatmosphereoftheprestigiousuniversitiesisextremelyevidentinthetwoadmissionsofficersmeetings.BeforecomingtotheUK,manystudentshadalwaysthoughtofOxfordandCambridgeasapureplaceforgeniusandcouldnotbecomparedwiththem.Nowitseemsthatpeoplewhocancomehereisjustbecausetheyhavedreamsandbravetoworkhard.Whynotus?PerhapsOxfordandCambridgearenotfaraway,wethinktheyarefarawayjustbecauseofourinnerobstacles.Aslongasweareunswervintomakeourowneffortstogoon,itwillleadtoabrilliantplaceahead!看見你們Bold勇敢無畏行程中為期三天的義工活動,最令人印象深刻的是,為了給FulhamReachBoatClub募捐資金,同學們分成小組走上陌生的倫敦街頭去發放宣傳單,以幫助更多的人有機會接觸這一項目。同學們剛開始都很緊張,又有點害怕,每次說出:“sorry,excuseme...”之后,很多人都微笑著拒絕,但總有人成功了,是的,人生充滿著拒絕,但只要堅持,總有人會為你駐足停留,特別是當同學們自信地用英文交流所獲得的滿足感,是無法用任何一種價值來衡量的。甚至當活動快接近尾聲,在集合的路上,同學們依舊沒有停止向路人宣傳這個活動。Themostimpressivepartofthethree-dayvolunteeractivityduringthetripwasthatinordertoraisefundsfortheFulhamReachBoatClub,thestudentsweredividedintogroupsandwalkeduptothestreetsofLondontohandoutleafletsinordertohelpmorepeoplehaveaccesstotheproject.Atthebeginning,studentswereverynervous,andalittleafraidofthisthing,everytimewhentheysay:sorry,excuseme...,manypeoplerefusedwithsmile,butstillsomepeoplesucceeded.Yes,lifeisfullofrejection,butaslongasyouinsist,therewillalwaysbesomeonewhowillstayforyou,especiallythesatisfactionthattheygainedfromcommunicationinEnglishconfidently,Ithinkthiscannotbemeasuredbyanykindofvalue.Evenwhentheactivitywascomingtotheend,onthewaytothegathering,ourstudentsstilldidnotstoptopublicizetheactivitytopassers-by.▲為FulhamReachBoatClub募捐除此以外,在天氣惡劣的情況下,同學們積極參與在泰晤士河岸旁清理河道垃圾的工作,其實在英國,河道垃圾清理的工作都是由各行各業的志愿者完成的。在被英國人參與慈善活動的精神所震撼的同時,通過義工系列活動,我們也看到了天行學子們身上寶貴的精神----那就是勇敢無畏(Bold)。當我們走出自我的舒適區,勇敢地突破自我的時候,我們才能收獲機會,收獲感恩,收獲成長。Inaddition,inbadweather,studentstookpartincleaninguptheriverrubbishalongtheThamesBanks.Infact,inBritain,theworkofcleaninguptherivergarbageisdonebyvolunteersfromallwalksoflife.WhilewewereshockedbythespiritofBritishpeopleparticipatingincharityactivities,throughtheseriesofvolunteeractivities,wealsosawthepreciousspiritofTeensen’sstudents--thatis,Bold.Whenwestepoutofourcomfortzoneandbreakthroughourselvesbravely,wegainopportunities,gaingratitude,gaingrowth.▲同學們在清理河道垃圾看見你們Caring關愛他人記得剛到英國的時候,就有同學提醒老師,Jessica即將在英國過生日,沒想到大家去超市的時候買的都是送給Jessica的生日禮物;更讓暖心的是,在西餐廳用餐時,大家看到忙前忙后一直服務我們的英國小哥非常辛苦,聽聞老師倡議給小費時,大家紛紛贊同,也貢獻了自己的部分。這位小哥知道我們來自中國后,興奮地不停地說謝謝。在我們錄播“HappyNewYear”視頻時,現場其他的客人也為我們響起陣陣掌聲。IrememberwhenwejustarrivedintheUK,somestudentsremindedteachersthatJessicawasgoingtocelebrateherbirthdayintheUK.IdidntexpectthateveryonewouldbuyJessicaabirthdaypresentwhentheywenttothesupermarket.Whatsmore,whenwehaddinnerinthewesternrestaurant,wesawthattheBritishboywhohadbeenservingusallthetimewasworkingveryhard.Whenourstudentheardthattheteacherproposedtogivehimatip,theyallagreedandcontributedtheirownpart.WhentheboyknewwewerefromChina,hekeptsayingthankyouexcitedly.WhenwerecordedandbroadcastthevideoHappyNewYear,otherguestsalsoapplaudedforus.▲大家為Jessica過生日在英國的最后幾個晚上,我們召開了感恩分享大會,總結到倫敦以后的點滴收獲以及想要感恩的人或事。本想利用這個會議,鍛煉同學們總結分享的能力,沒想到結果超出了我們的預料。隨后同行的時間,大家相處的更為融洽、更關心彼此了。當看到有同學表達不夠自信時,用力的鼓掌為其加油;當看到自己的同伴因時差不停地打瞌睡時,會友善地提醒;當看到同伴鞋帶松了,會蹲下來為其系鞋帶;當聽聞國內新冠病毒疫情嚴重時,好幾位同學提出為大家提供N95口罩......InthelastfewnightsintheUK,weheldagratitudesharingconferencetosummarizewhatwehavelearnedinLondonandwhoorwhatwewanttobegratefulfor.Iwantedtousethismeetingtopracticestudentsabilitytosummarizeandshare,buttheresultwasbeyondourexpectation.Later,duringthetimewewenttosomewheretogether,wegetalongmoreharmoniouslyandmoreconcernedabouteachother.Anytimewhenastudentexpressedlackofconfidence,therewerealwaysahardapplauseforcheeringthispersonup;Whenourstudentsawhisorherpartnerdozingoffbecauseoftimelag,theywillremindthemkindly.Whentheysawtheirpartnersshoelacegotloose,theycroucheddowninordertotietheirshoelace.WhentheyheardtheseriousoutbreakofthenewcoronavirusinChina,severalstudentsproposedtoprovideN95masksforeveryonewhoareneedit.▲同學們在集體討論點點滴滴的愛不經意間已讓我們身體里流淌的天行血液更加沸騰了,感恩更讓我們懂得愛,分享愛,傳播愛!DribsanddrabslovehasenableTeensen’sspiritwiderlyspreaded,thanksgivingmakeusunderstandlove,sharelove,spreadlove!看見你們Devoted全情投入Erudite博學多識在參觀寶馬mini工廠、大英博物館、英國自然歷史博物館、劍橋大學城及溫莎城堡等景點后,帶隊老師們安排了每天必不可少的ProjectDiscussion,希望同學們養成認真聆聽、勤于思考、團隊協作的好習慣!無論是分組QA問答,還是小組presentation展示總結,視頻任務的布置等,每一位同學都帶著責任感和使命去參與每天的行程,而不僅僅只是簡單的游覽和參觀。我們看到的是每一處參觀游覽,同學們都投入的記錄著,觀察著。這讓我們幾位帶隊老師非常興奮!AftervisitingtheBMWminifactory,theBritishmuseum,theBritishmuseumofnaturalhistory,theuniversitytownofCambridge,Windsorcastleandotherscenicspots,theteachersarrangedProjectDiscussion,whichiscompulsoryeveryday.Ihopethatstudentscandevelopthegoodhabitoflisteningcarefully,thinkingdiligentlyandtryingtocooperatewitheachother!WhetheritisQAsectionalization,grouppresentationsummary,videotaskarrangement,etc.,everystudentparticipatedinthedailytripwithasenseofresponsibilityandmission,insteadofjustsightseeingandvisiting.Whatwesawineveryplacewevisited,studentswereengagedinrecordingandobserving.Thismadeseveralleadingteachersfeltprettyexcited!▲參觀寶馬mini工廠▲參觀大英博物館但整個行程最令人興奮的是三天英國倫敦大學學院(UCL)的專業性課程給同學們帶來的成長和幫助。ButthemostexcitingpartofthetripwasthethreedaysofprofessionalcoursesatuniversitycollegeLondon(UCL).第一天有幸聆聽了著名UCL建筑系博士、國家發改委一帶一路PPP專家,中國臺灣籍Dr.Chueng的講座,了解到倫敦城市結構設計的演變史。幾乎通曉了整個英國歷史,講課幽默、生動有趣,課程中還不停的表
